Review of The Importance of Being Earnest (2002) by Itamar K — 01 Oct 2007
This version of The Importance of Being Earnest plays much more as a romantic comedy rather than an intelligent farcical comedy. Colin Firth and Rupert Everett are hilarious as Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, and Reese Witherspoon and Frances O'Connor are absolutely adorable as Cecily and Gwendolyn.
This film has a more obvious physical comedy than the older version and deviates from Oscar Wilde's original work. However, as a film in itself, it is very entertaining and worth a watch.
