Review of The Immigrant (2013) by Marc " — 25 May 2014
89%.
James Gray handles more of a typical melodramatic feature here, but his ability as a versatile director gives the story solidity, bolstered by strong performances from an exceptional cast, and the overall execution of scenes and shots prove genuinely satisfying instead of drawn out and lifeless. And yes, I believe Gray accidentally used Terrence Malick's theme for The Tree of Life, can't blame him, it's a lovely ass song.
