Review of The Imitation Game (2014) by C.j. H — 03 Feb 2016
Excellent. But I couldn't bear the cruelty to Alan Turing even if it was true. I read a review that felt the athletic one "got along" with people better than Alan. In my view he was one of the meanest, cruelest bullies in the film which is to say he didn't "get along" with people at all. So it was a bit of a shock to find that Alan's character, who was described by reviewers as someone who couldn't get along with people, was courteous and didn't throw wrenches at people like the athletic one did. When the girl verbally abused him, too, with no provocation, as well as the time she was kind to the one who threw a wrench at him and told him he needed to get along with people, I felt the reviewer had it backward and that the film brought to light a problem we still have in the world: that of putting the responsibility of the bullying on the victim. Once solved we'll save our children, too.
I was still glad I watched the film and felt the man who played Turing was endearing.
