While visually beautiful and emotionally bittersweet, I miss the quirky humor and percussive pacing of Chomet's masterpiece, "The Triplets of Belleville". Where "Belleville" was bebop jazz, "The Illusionist" is a lyrical quartet, evenly paced and ultimately sad.
