Review of The Illusionist (2009) by Tabitha M — 24 May 2011
Oh my goodness! What did I watch? This movie... beautiful, beautiful animation but painfully boring (and quite depressing) storyline. If you would even call it a storyline! It made me feel very sad inside - with only a few slight smiles here and there at the random passing pug or shot of the mischevious rabbit.
I know this movie is a big deal, Oscar-nominated, and 80% liked but maybe there is something I missed. The drawing was amazingly impressive and I feel this movie had great potential to be a wonderful, uplifting, warm-your-heart story, but I kept waiting for it to end - and yet, I couldn't bring myself to press the STOP button.
I just don't know, man.
