Review of The Illusionist (2009) by Jessica C — 05 Aug 2011
Hmm. See this if you can watch a painting in action for 90 minutes. This is pretty much what you get with the "Illusionist". Artistic, but almost no story line. My 4 year old loved it, but my older kids got bored after 20 minutes of waiting for there to be more meat in the story.
It is indeed artistic, and therefore, probably deserves to be more in a museum than on the screen. You will find a connection to the sweet old man and the young girl, with hardly any dialogue. Although it is foreign, subtitles won't be necessary, since you are mostly watching little pieces of action.
