Review of The Illusionist (2009) by Kendall I — 28 Sep 2012
Raindrop-paced, nearly wordless, cities lovingly painted with afternoon light, jaw dropping natural landscapes, and framed with a Satie-like piano score, perfect in its hushed simplicity. Almost unbearably lovely and sad.
Like his Triplettes of Belleville, an astonishing example of what animation can achieve in the hands of real artists rather than Pixar lab technicians.
