Review of The Ides of March (2011) by Musicguru123 — 12 Nov 2011
This film is gripping. Although it starts off a little slowly, it soon gets going and brilliantly conveys the harsh and slimy political world. Ryan Gosling is excellent in the lead role, convincingly acting out the slow deterioration of his character, from an honest politician to the typical vengeful and ruthless one.
George Clooney also produces a good performance; his character shows the smooth politician with great PR skills, who is essentially flawed behind the scenes. Perhaps the movie could move a little more quickly.
At times it feels a little slow. Having said that, for the most part it is exciting, and successfully delivers a powerful message about the politics of today.
