Review of The Ides of March (2011) by Lahaine — 04 Dec 2011
The word "friend" is used loosely in this tense political thriller. It allows for surprises, twists, turns and leaves you questioning who to trust in this ensemble. The Ides of March was an extremely entertaining fair.
Its smart, well structured, startlingly cynical and filled with a series of good performances. The film started fairly slow though, but it gradually and effectively picks up pace, and Clooney's revelatory directing delves into the harsh realities of campaigning and dirty politics itself.
This is a solid film by any means.
