Review of The Ides of March (2011) by Martin O — 13 May 2012
A presidential candidate (George Clooney) and his devoted staff go from admirable (even ideal) to despicably Machiavellian, capturing all that we love to hate about politicians. The cast is terrific, but the candidate's fall from grace and the even more precipitous loss of idealism of one of his lead staffers (Ryan Gosling) is a bit forced and extreme.
