Review of The Ides of March (2011) by Joshua G — 10 Jun 2012
There is no doubt that "The Ides of March" is an extremely captivating human drama, but it doesn't reach the tragic depths it aspires to attain because of the filmmaker's desire to display his austerely cynical attitude towards politics.
By default, the characters become merely cogs in a game already played out for them due to the nature of their position, rather than having a definitive say in their own story. You gotta put characters before the message.
