Review of The Ides of March (2011) by Damjan R — 21 Mar 2013
Filled with great acting, especially from Evan Rachel Wood and Ryan Gosling, this is ultimately a pretty predictable and underwhelming film that does little to push the envelope, movie or thought wise.
Clooney is not a bad director, but he isn't visually mature enough for this film to paint a picture that has more than one layer. The double crossing element of the story gets negated and it's power gets blunted by the time the end of the film comes around.
Recommended for fans of Gosling and Wood, but be wary of having high expectations.
