Review of The Ice Storm (1997) by Maike B — 24 Nov 2007
Ang Lee's stunning portrait of a family falling apart over the course of one emotionally shattering weekend, has an incredible amount to offer. From it's Watergate subtext(the family,as with America, tearing itself apart),oscar robbed perfomances(Kline,Weaver,Allen,Maguire and Ricci, all excel) and sublime, perfect direction of heavy material(before Brokeback, this is where Lee showed us his true talents).
All combine for an unforgettable, and very, very serious motion picture.
