Review of The Ice Storm (1997) by Mar T — 07 Jun 2008
If I could give this film more than five stars, I would. It has four things going for it: it's based on Rick Moody's briliant book of the same name, it features a phenomenally good cast, led by Kevin Kline, Sigourney Weaver and the under-appreiated Joan Allen, it captures the time period -- early 1970s -- perfectly, and Ang Lee has the sense to keep things subtle.
He doesn't hit us over the head to make his points, and that makes us want to delve into the characters' minds all the more. An entertaining and compelling film.
