Review of The Ice Storm (1997) by Michael D — 22 Jan 2009
I've only seen Brokeback Mountain by Ang Lee, so this is only my second film by that guy. This movie is just as good though, if not even better. The movie takes place in a suburban kind of enviroment in the US in the 70's. It was getting acceptable to switch partners and have sex with different men/women beside the one you married. It's under these circumstances we follow the cast in this movie, who all are distracted in one way or the other. The story is told with perfection and the cinemagraphics and enviroment of the movie contributes to that story really well - The snowy landscape in the rather desserted northern-like land and people having trouble figuring themselves out.
I can't really say a lot about this one, because there's really a lot to it. The main thing, however, is that this movie really works well! I saw it 4-5 days ago and havn't stopped thinking about it. It's extremely powerful and leaves you puzzled afterwards. Anyway, this one is good, so please watch it - you won't regret it.
