Review of The Ice Storm (1997) by Lane W — 24 Jan 2010
A clear precursor to American Beauty, but interested more in the subtlety and sudden attack of the dissolution of the family unit than actively tearing it apart. The performances are each remarkable for vastly different reasons, and the spare screenplay relies heavily on Lee's ability to tell a story with images, which is to the film's benefit.
Definitely requires a second viewing.
