Review of The Ice Storm (1997) by Ojas V — 09 Jul 2010
A film about the malaise of suburban life...surely a subject which has been dealt with time and time again in movies. Everyone is desperate to find pleasure, but it is joy which escapes them. The parents are more pathetic than their children, but even the kids don't stand much of a chance of finding true happiness , so they submit to carnal desires with not much shame. In the end, it takes a devastating loss to truly feel emotion....
The performances are great across the board, and we definitely pity all the characters...Also the compositions of the shots are brilliant and dark.
