Review of The Ice Storm (1997) by Steph O — 21 Dec 2010
"The Ice Storm"is an intense drama about two families in 70s Connecticut. Reminded me a lot of "Lymelife" - which is a really recent film with a similar theme. I think I prefer "Lymelife" though. "The Ice Storm" was very well done and very chilling... but ultimately depressing. I got a bit more out of "Lymelife". Plus I don't like Kevin Kline at all. Every movie I see him in, I feel like he's making that movie look really bad just by being in it.
Christina Ricci however - was great in this. I wish Tobey Maguire's character had been more involved in the story. I LOVE Tobey Maguire. Interesting to see him in another movie where he stars alongside Katie Holmes, since I recently saw "Wonder Boys". Anywho I'm completely rambling now, but "The Ice Storm" is a decent movie that's worth watching if you don't mind the odd depressing family-centric story.
