Review of The Ice Harvest (2005) by Brendan P — 02 Nov 2007

Unusual is probably the best way to describe it. It takes a plot/story line we've all scene before but adds unconventional characters into the mix giving an unfamiliar but refreshing and quite entertaining vibe to it.

However, what ever you may be lead to this is not a co-star/buddy movie John Cusack most defiantly the lead Thornton has less then half the screen time, but he's still great in this. Cusack plays his usual deadpan type anti-hero.

As stated in almost every interview I've seen Oliver Platt flat out steals the show as the town drunken loud mouth who is now married to Cusack's ex. I would have liked to seen more a resolution with the whole family sub-plot, but that's just me.

With a good cast at their best this is an entertaining dark comedy that people who like this genre, or any of the actors, should enjoy.
