Review of The Ice Harvest (2005) by Amy S — 29 May 2013
"A great cast, a script by Oscar-winning veteran Robert Benton, with Richard Russo, and direction by Harold Ramis still don't add up to much more than a shrug." "a thriller that's not very thrilling" I'm a fan of Thornton, Cusack and Quaid, but it's still a let down.
Good direction and gunplay are redeeming factors, but it's unimpressive and feels generic. The Lookout, Blood Simple, Killshot and Moss are much better movies. Fans of dark comedy, noir and snowscapes might dig it.
Bad Santa, Man Who Wasn't There and Fargo are welcome alternatives.
