Review of The Hustler (1961) by Spencer V — 20 Nov 2007
A remarkable movie. Quite possibly Paul Newman's best pure acting performance. You have some true giants of film behind him too like Jackie Gleason, in one of his very best roles and George C. Scott.
With great acting and dialogue and a heartwrenching story, it's truly one of the great movies of it's time or of any time. The final ten minutes, the Minnesota Fats scene, is a treasure by itself.
That scene alone should be in the Library of Congress.
