Review of The Hustler (1961) by Helena P — 19 Dec 2009
I thought The Hustler was a great film but I did find that it had some problems with its pacing and a rather weak middle section. The acting from Paul Newman, George C. Scott and Jackie Gleason was, lets face it, peerless but I must admit I wasn't crazy about Piper Laurie's performance.
Pacing problems aside the beginning and the ending were fantastic and very, very exhiting. Paul Newman truly was one of the greats.
