Review of The Hustler (1961) by Orlando O — 10 Feb 2010
What we have here is just apiece of great effort and almost the end in the career of a great filmmaker, and he did an awesome job, I gotta say it's a little slow, but it's because of all the roles the main character has to face to know just what he had to do from the begining also in terms of camerawork, montage and editing the movie stands in high standards.
But what this movie really IS about is Paul Newman, he does an almost perfect role portraying his character, which is a very rich one, he makes you follow him through everything he has to overcome during the whole movie, you can almost feel pity for him in cerain moments of the film, I would be even willing to say that if you want and/or study acting, you can't just miss this movie, you gotta watch Paul Newman doing what he knows how to do.
