Review of The Hustler (1961) by Drew C — 08 Oct 2007
Paul Newman smolders in this tale of a cocky poolshark who gets his chance to be the king of the table. With a supoorting cast as effortless and wonderful as Piper Laurie, George C. Scott, and the wonderful Jackie Gleason, it's hard for the movie not to engage and love.
Dark, broody, and a picture of elegant filmmaking, The Hustler is Newman at his best making the others around him even better too.
