Review of The Hustler (1961) by Brian S — 20 Dec 2009
Quite an awesome movie, actually--had a very French New Wave feel to it despite being distinctly American at the same time. Paul Newman plays his classic tragic hero, and Piper Laurie's performance is absolutely amazing--such a rich, emotionally complex character.
wonderful supporting performances from Gleason and Scott as well. well-filmed, well-written, and just a very overall dense and thought-provoking movie.
