Review of The Huntsman: Winter's War (2016) by Edward B — 23 Apr 2016
I enjoyed it more than I expected mainly because the critics had said it was "messy" and "unnecessary.".
While it's debatable whether any sequel is "necessary," I think it was a worthy addition to the world of "Snow White and the Huntsman." Charlize Theron carried just the right tone of menace, Emily Blunt as Queen Freya, whose powers all have to do with ice, played her role appropriately "frigid." The rest of the actors also did a bang-up job of being entertaining. The situations were dire and believable, and I cared about all the characters. I would want to see the next movie to see what happens to them.
My only criticism of the story might be that Freya's reaction to her inciting event (I don't want to spoil it with specifics) wasn't believable. She came off as just nuts. I would have liked to see a little more of why she reacted the way she did. Otherwise, it was a good story.
DEFINITELY worth seeing.
