The first Clancy novel, and still the only really good Clancy movie.The Hunt for Red October is, yes - a Cold War wet dream. But it's also a great thriller movie with the right balance of tension and violence from John McTiernan, the director of Die Hard.
It's also a great reminder that 20 years ago, the world was a very different place than it is today.
