The good and the bad are both equal here. Harrison Ford is a far superior Jack Ryan to Alec Baldwin but Sean Connery is marvelous. It is a difficult thing to put an "action movie" director at the helm of what is basically a technical drama.
McTiernan's desire to beef up the action drips from the screen but sadly it just never acheives any of its goals.
