The first and best of the films based on Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan novels. Directed by John McTiernan (Die Hard, Last Action Hero), this Cold War-era submarine-based espionage thriller revolves a rogue Soviet naval captain (Sean Connery) and his crew attempting to defect to the United States with the Red October, the latest and most advanced nuclear submarine.
It is up to CIA analyst Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin) to deduce his motives and prove his theory to the US Navy before a violent confrontation takes place between the Soviets and Americans. Also features awesome supporting performances by James Earl Jones, Sam Neil and Scott Glen.
