Review of The Hunt for Red October (1990) by Baurushan J — 01 May 2013
Based on Tom Clancy's novel of the same name and directed by Die Hard and Predator helmer John McTiernan, The story is about Marko Ramius played by Sean Connery who murders his political adviser, burns his orders and takes advantage of the Red October submarine towards the American waters, hoping to defect.
The CIA are aware that the submarine is on a mission to avoid the radar and fire its nuclear missiles upon U.S. installations, believes that Ramius is insane, and that he plans to start World War III.
Only Jack Ryan played by Alec Baldwin believes that Ramius is not as apocalyptic as he seems as he is the one who assigned him to infiltrate the Red October to prove his theory especially when the Red October gets attacked under a bunch of torpedoes.
This is a beautiful, beautiful film. It's complex, has a huge cast backing it's script along with it's solid direction and I can see why so many liked this movie. It's one of the most amazingly thrilling war movies ever portrayed by an assembled cast.
The Hunt For Red October gets a 10/10.
