Review of The Hunt (2013) by Paul J — 06 Dec 2012
My God, what a movie. I couldn't stop thinking about it for days after. It's truly haunting, very tragic and impeccably well made. Mikkelsen earns his well-deserved Best Actor award at Cannes. He plays a man falsely accused of pedophilia.
In some respects, it's the antithesis of Vinterberg's earlier classic, The Celebration. The Hunt is riveting from start to finish with scenes that are excruciatingly painful and most impressive of all - completely original.
It's a masterpiece that I may rate higher in time. The trouble is, it's such a difficult film to watch. It may very well leave you in a depressed funk. That said, it's a story that NEEDED to be told.
Bravo to all involved. It will leave audiences discussing for years to come.
