Review of The Hunt (2013) by Steve P — 02 May 2013
A truly remarkable movie. Mads Mikkelsen is brilliant in his role as the kindergarten teacher who's life is completely changed following a lie told by a child. And Annika Wedderkopp, the child actor in her first cinematic role (as far as I know) is absolutely amazing as the child making the accusation about her carer. It's a truly remarkable, nuanced performance.
The story of THE HUNT is very complex and explores a very sensitive issue with power and perceptiveness. It's a tough film to watch - there's no way that Hollywood would have been able to come anywhere near to successfully tackling this subject. The soundtrack is sensitive and fits the narrative exactly right.
This will most certainly be one of the best films of the year and will haunt you for a long term after the shocking and disturbing conclusion.
