Review of The Hunt (2013) by Armand J — 15 Mar 2014
I'm gonna do a bit of a pro/con list.
Con: It wasn't an English (not really a problem, but I guess it loses some of the effect in the dialogue). That's it.
Pro: Everything. This movie was gut wrenching and difficult to watch at times. It's a super difficult line to walk especially with a topic like child sexual abuse. It's a bit of a case of a person going beyond the call of duty, but getting screwed over for it. Mads Mikkelsen was nothing short of phenomenal in this movie. I'm used to seeing him play the bad scary guy, but the emotion that he portrayed as Lucas was just amazing. This movie was so good, I can't express this enough. Especially when dealing with the touchy topic, usually a movie won't really delve to deep into it or show the details. The Hunt did. It showed that even though Lucas was falsely accused, he could never get the reputation to go away. Those things said about him would forever be attached to his name. It's just really difficult to watch some of the scenes where you almost feel sick in your stomach about what is going on with Lucas (including the end. My word). I'm really glad I decided to watch this movie because it completely blew away my expectations. Just phenomenally made and acted. I really loved it.
