Review of The Hunt (2013) by Frank C — 23 Jun 2014
Without a doubt the most painful movie I have ever watched in my life, even more so than "Ginger and Rosa" or "Blue Valentine". I suspected they may leave it open-ended, but there was no room for interpretation: the destruction of an innocent man is told in a shockingly plausible and heartbreaking tortuous way.
Marcus Mikkelsen deserves an incredible round of kudos for this performance, which could not have been easy to do. The strong juxtaposition of the natural beauty of the town against the hideousness of people and doubt make the film as potent as it is.
A great film but an impossible watch underscored by a last 30 seconds that only drives home the stake into one's heart. 'Twas the brother.
