Review of The Hunt (2013) by Joe H — 02 Aug 2014
A must-see for film enthusiasts, The Hunt chronicles the damage a seemingly innocent lie can create, and the nefarious cruelty normal people can inflict when they allow themselves to believe the unthinkable.
The film is a penetrating look at modern society, and the imprudent assumptions with which we deal with accusations of sexual misconduct. Mads Mikkelsen is heartbreaking as Lucas, a kind and lonely kindergarten teacher who has been falsely accused of child abuse.
And yet the true revelation is seven-year old Annika Wedderkopp, who is compelled to play a emotionally demanding central character with immense range. Chalk it up to excellent directing or natural ability, she is utterly captivating on screen.
