Review of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) by William T — 16 Sep 2014
You know how a sequel is supposed to expand upon the original, using new and unexplored ideas to further the story, build the characters and yet still stand on its own as a self contained narrative? Yeah, Catching Fire does none of those things.
Instead, Catching Fire decides that the easiest thing to do is to just make the Hunger Games again...so it did. This is not "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire", this the "The Hunger Games 2: Here We Go Again.
" Aside from changing some character names and removing all interesting commentary that the first Hunger Games had to offer, Catching Fire is the same thing as the original, complete with Chariots of Fire and Peeta still being about as stale as the bread he threw out.
