Review of The Hunger Games (2012) by Brandon W — 20 Nov 2014
To be ready for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, I decide to watch the previous films whenever I get time for it. So, onward to the games. I was very excited to see this, and I actually thought it was going to be the next Harry Potter.
But I'm usually wrong about movies like that, however, that doesn't stop me from being excited for The Hunger Games. To my surprise, I was actually right. It was an amazing movie. I read the book before this, and I think it's faithful to the book.
There are some stuff in the book that weren't in the movie which I felt should've been in there and it would've been more effective. With that said, it's well-acted, the satire of national tv is great, and it's exciting.
The effects are surprisingly bad, and you can tell that they look fake. The camerawork can be shaky at times which is fine if effective, but it was shaking too much, making some viewers dizzy from it.
The Hunger Games has done well with its book it's based on. It's got problems and it's not perfect, but they did a good job with the first one that makes me want to see the second movie.
