Review of The Hunger Games (2012) by Kendyl C — 12 Apr 2014
Deservingly one of the most popular young adult franchises in recent years, The Hunger Games excellently adapts the novel's brutal storytelling and narration of political undercurrents -- with some natural cinematic changes as well.
And while I won't go on to call it a masterpiece per say (some scenes aren't as heartwrenching as they're suggested to be), it's immediately made memorable by Jennifer Lawrence, one of the finest actresses in recent years, also deservingly.
The Hunger Games joins Harry Potter, LOTR, and many others as proof of how a Hollywood adaption of a popular novel series can remain faithful, but also excellently transition it into a casual classic.
