The Hunger Games is based on the YA novel of the same. The film creates an elaborate world where the Capitol rules twelve districts, and it features some social and political commentary. The performances are great, specifically from Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen.
The whole film is solid, but the games lack some tension. Overall, this is a very good movie that sets up the franchise nicely.
