Review of The Hunger (1983) by Elise E — 13 Feb 2009
Puzzling. On one hand, Deneuve, Sarandon and Bowie are really good - and sexy; the lesbian erotic Lakme scene is beautiful; the framing and colors are hugely laboured; the music is good; so are the sets and outfits.
.. On the other hand, the plot is incomprehensible; Bowie grows old too soon and too fast (why, my Lord, why? he was so sexy); some special effects are ludicrous; it is sometimes too heavily stylized; and for chr*st's sake, why so many close-ups??
