Review of The Hunger (1983) by Martha C — 03 Jun 2009
By reading the other reviews, I get the feeling this is one of those "I guess you had to be there" type of movies. If you saw it at a certain age, at a certain time, it was just a really awesome movie.
Catherine Deneuve was, well, saying she was at her best wouldn't be fair, since she was at her best for about 30 or 40 years. But she was amazing. Susan Sarandon and David Bowie were also great.
The photography is very nice and many of the scenes are just beautiful works of art. The sound track is probably one of my favorite movie sountracks of all times, mixing great 80's alternative music with wonderful classical pieces.
The movie is dark, moody and heavy, and can be a little depressing. Nonetheless, it's a classic and if you were a teenager or young adult in the 80's you probably loved it just as much as I did!
