Review of The Hunger (1983) by Arthur B — 19 Feb 2011
Directed by the brother of Ridley, this is from Tony Scott's 1983, esoteric vampire film "The Hunger," shot exquisitely, crafted beautifully, and acted well by Susan Sarandon, Catherine Deneuve, and rockstar David Bowie--a visually extravagant punk-horror film.
The adapted story is slim, but Director Scott takes his first film seriously, and laudably fleshes it out in art direction, visuals, and mood. A unique, immersing, and captivating high-class horror film.
Better than its reviews. Legendary make-up artist Dick Smith. Contains some lesbianism that shocked audiences in its day.
