The Human Centipede (First Sequence) is so grotesque and exploitive that you feel like you have to take a shower after watching it. Although this is the point of the movie, it doesn't try to connect its disturbing ideas to the real world in any way, which would've made the movie work.
Instead, it relies on shock value to make it good. It tries to scream "cult classic", but it will never get there.
