Review of The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) by Orlando F — 09 Jan 2009
The first time I "watched" this, I pieced together different pieces of the narrative from watching different bits at different times. My original view of it was something closer to Brazil: absurd and fantastical and weird.
I did not realize that it was actually more linear, and the weirdness is more in the "You know! For the kids!" than anything else. That being said, it has aged very well in the way it captured an era gone by well enough and stylistically enough that it does not reek of the early-mid nineties as much as many of its contemporaries.
