Review of The Housemaid (2010) by Charles James I — 03 Mar 2011
A perfect display of modern decadence in South Korea, a country that is geographically booming. The flavor of Korean cinema is evident, with grotesque displays of blood, and depraved situational shock value, and sex. Compared with other Korean films made in the same vane of thought, it may underwhelm people who stick too closely to K-film stigmas.
One of the best endings I have seen in recent memory. With a snapshot of a Lynchian decadence and ridiculousness, as we fade out into an undefinable exit into the empty abyss of superficial life.
