Review of The House That Dripped Blood (1971) by James G — 25 Aug 2007
Love this film! A classily-made series of short tales all centred around the same unlucky house, each story has its own distinct mood from black comedy to psychodrama, but it gels together very well. There are a number of memorable performances by veteran English actors including Denholm Elliott, Christopher Lee (acting against type in a classic example of deliberate audience misdirection), the ever-sublime Peter Cushing, and Jon Pertwee hot from his first season as Doctor Who (he even wears the same gear!).
Don't be misled or put off by the sensationalist title, if you are expecting a gore-fest you'll be disappointed. If you want to see a classy, atmospheric production with some distinguished veteran actors, come on in!
