Review of The House of the Devil (2009) by Michael C — 19 Jun 2010
Divides opinon among most, but "The House of the Devil" is sure to win over fans of the tacky (but charming) babysitter-in-peril slasher flicks of the Eighties. It plays like an authentic straight-to-video, post-Halloween flick, spliced with a little of the early Seventies cinema's obsession with Devil worshipping.
However it's more succesful than much of what it imitates, simultaneously paying tribute to, and improving on much of it's inspiration. Some will find it a little slow paced, but those who have a fondness for the less extravagent cheapies of the genre will find this a real delight.
