Sometimes slow is good. Slow works, like on the Exorcist. But in this case, nothing much happens for over an hour, for no reason. Characters appear out of nowhere and are left unexplained. People don't act or behave like they would in real life.
That's due to sloppy writing. The 5 minutes of decent suspense wasn't worth the bore of over an hour and a half. Oh, and the end is ridiculous. Crappy excuse for a horror movie. Ti West owes me 2 hours of my life.
