Review of The House (2017) by Audiosuede — 29 Jun 2017
This movie will appeal to a certain kind of comedy fan first and foremost. Take a look at the cast list. If you recognize the majority of the comedians in the film, and in particular if you're a fan of Jason Mantzoukas and Nick Kroll, whose styles dictate a lot of this film's tone, this movie is for you.
In many ways, it's Old School mixed with Neighbors, without the problematic frat-bro characters that both of those movies contain. The plot doesn't entirely hold together for the full runtime, but the same can be said of many improv-centric comedies of this era.
If you're a fan of the films of David Wain, Adam McKay, Seth Rogen, and/or The Lonely Island, chances are you will find something to enjoy in this film.
