Review of The Host (2013) by Dylan W — 11 Aug 2013
Boring, tedious, saccharine crap that is a constant clock-watcher of a movie. With characters that are unbearable, unlikeable and unrelatable, as well as stupid, The Host offers up nothing interesting as a sci-fi, nor as an alien invasion movie. The constant inner monologue from Ronan's character is annoying as hell and tries so hard to be funny at the same time but only coming off as more grating on your soul. The romances between the characters are not believable in the slightest and you're constantly unsure who's in love with whom. Who knew that you could fall in love after saying three f*cking words to each other? There's zero chemistry between the characters and everyone just looks bored and would rather be anywhere else but here. The timespan is f*cked to hell and apparently takes places over a few weeks but looks like it all takes place within a few hours. Another sh*tty entry in Meyer's ever growing sh*tty bibliography. One of the worst movies of the whole year.
P.S. Oh, and a sh*tty cop-out ending that is enough to make you puke; if the girls face doesn't make you puke (my god she's ugly as hell).
